The following guidelines should be followed:

  • Avoid applying direct heat or open flames for a long period of time.
  • Avoid coming in contact with strong chemicals e.g. Oven Cleaners, acids, paint removers, red wine, oils, juices for extended periods of time. If they do come in contact with the benchtop clean up as soon as possible to avoid staining.
  • Avoid directly dropping heavy/sharp objects on to the benchtop to avoid chipping and damage. If chipping does occur get in contact with us and we can arrange a chip repair!
  • Try to avoid directly cutting on your benchtop as this can cause scratches and also blunt your knife in the process.
  • Avoid Standing on your kitchen benchtops.
  • Try not drag pots and pans across your benchtop to avoid damage.
  • Sealing of Natural stones (marble in particular) at least once a year, we sell sealers so contact Kay Stone.

Cleaning Stone Tops

Stone (engineered stone, porcelain, marble and granite) is one of the easiest surfaces to maintain. For day-to-day maintenance all you need to do is wipe the benchtop with a cloth and clean water. You will find most of cleaning products you probably already have around the house can be used to clean your benchtops (AVOID – Cleaning products with acidic or abrasive ingredients). LITHOFIN cleaners are the most effective and we personally use them to clean your benches!

Recommended cleaners:

  • Caesarstone Spray Cleaner
  • LITHOFIN cleaners
  • Soapy Water
  • Windex
  • Spray and wipe (find at your local supermarket)

Difficult Spots/Spot Removal

You might find some stains are quite hard to remove. In this case it is necessary to use stronger cleaning chemicals and products to remove the stain. The chemicals/products are as follows:

  • LITHOFIN Stain Remover.
  • Caesarstone Cream Cleanser.
  • Methylated spirits

CAUTION

Products that contain abrasives/chemicals/oils may dull the stones finish and leave a residue behind, so use them with caution. I would recommend you contact us to ask questions you may have.
